The Jetour T2 has once again been spotted testing on Indian roads in heavily camouflaged condition. The rugged, boxy SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads and its upright stance, squared-off body, prominent alloy wheels and rear-mounted spare wheel are clearly visible in the latest spy shots.

This SUV will be an important model in JSW Motors’ upcoming portfolio in India.

JSW Motors is preparing to introduce the T2 for India under its upcoming brand. According to recent reports, the India-spec version could be named JSW Combat, although the final market branding should be considered definitive only in the context of a formal launch announcement from the company.

Autocar India has reported the Combat name and plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Jetour T2 India Spotted: What’s Spotted in the Spy Shots?

Jetour T2 spotted testing in India showing rugged rear design

The latest test mule is camouflaged in heavy camouflage, but the SUV’s basic proportions are clearly visible. The T2’s design is boxy and upright, with a relatively tall body, a squared-off rear section, and a spare wheel mounted on the rear door.

Vertical tail-lamp elements, large alloy wheels, and a high-set body profile are also visible in the spy shots. The overall silhouette appears closely related to the international-market Jetour T2. Earlier India sightings have also shown the exterior proportions of the test mule to be broadly similar to the production T2.

Interestingly, the international market Jetour has also revealed the T2’s facelift, while the test vehicles spotted in India appear to be sticking to the outgoing/pre-facelift design. Therefore, the exact exterior design of the final India-spec Combat remains a significant question.

JSW Combat: Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain Expected

The biggest talking point of the India-bound T2 is its plug-in hybrid powertrain. JSW Motors’ current India website lists the T2 Super Hybrid, featuring a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine-based plug-in hybrid system. The company website mentions around 100 km of pure-electric range and approximately 1,200 km of combined range as expected figures.

The global T2 i-DM version is available with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine, along with electric motors and a dedicated hybrid transmission. According to Jetour’s international information, the T2 i-DM uses a 1.5T hybrid-specific engine and a three-speed super-hybrid transmission.

However, India-spec power output, battery capacity, charging specifications, and final drivetrain calibration should not yet be considered production-spec India launch data. JSW Motors’ India website also lists some figures as “expected.”

T2 Size and Rugged SUV Design

The global-spec Jetour T2 measures 4,785 mm in length with spare wheel cover, 2,006 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Ground clearance is listed at around 220 mm in the international specification. The SUV uses a monocoque architecture, not a ladder-frame chassis.

The international 2.0-liter turbo-petrol version produces 187 kW (around 250 hp) and 390 Nm of torque, along with a 7-speed DCT and four-wheel drive. The 1.5-liter version develops 135 kW and 290 Nm. However, these are global ICE specifications; the numbers for the India-bound PHEV should not be directly confused with these figures.

The T2’s XWD system can automatically switch between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Multiple terrain modes are also available on the international model, reinforcing its adventure-oriented positioning.

The Global Jetour T2 features a technology-heavy cabin. Available equipment includes a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, Snapdragon 8155 processor, L2-level driver assistance technology, and connected features.

However, the final feature list of the India-spec Combat has not yet been officially finalized, including which features will be standard and which will be available with variants. Therefore, it would be premature to mention the features of the global T2 as confirmed equipment for the India model.

JSW Combat India Launch Timeline

JSW Motors’ current India website lists the T2 as “Launching this Diwali.” Earlier reports also indicated a festive-season launch. However, the exact launch date has not yet been publicly confirmed.

Recent reports have also revealed changes to the India launch timeline. CarWale reported on October 1 that the T2 facelift had been revealed in the international market, while India-bound test vehicles were spotted in the pre-facelift design. According to the report, the possibility of the launch being moved to early 2027 has also been discussed.

So, for now, the Diwali launch can be considered as the current indication of the company website, but the exact launch date should not be confirmed.

JSW Combat Price and Rivals

Reports have discussed the expected pricing of the JSW Combat in the roughly Rs. 30 lakh–50 lakh (ex-showroom) range. Autocar India also reported a similar broad expected range.

If the SUV launches in this range, it will be positioned in the premium SUV space. However, direct price comparisons will only be meaningful once the final India price, variants, and equipment are announced.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The latest India spy shot of the Jetour T2 is important because the SUV is now clearly in testing, and JSW Motors has officially begun showcasing the T2 Super Hybrid on its India website. Rugged design, plug-in hybrid technology, XWD capability, and premium cabin technology are key talking points for this SUV.

The most interesting part is that the final details of the India-bound model are still evolving. The JSW Combat name, exact PHEV specifications, final styling, pricing and launch date should be completely confirmed only after the company’s final announcement.

Currently, latest testing indicates that the T2-based SUV is progressing toward its India introduction.
