The new Volkswagen ID. Tiguan will come as the successor to the ID. 4 and ID. 5. This electric SUV has been developed on the brand’s MEB+ platform and will feature Volkswagen’s new ‘Pure Positive’ design language. The company’s focus is on making it a better choice than the earlier ID. 4 and ID. 5, offering a more traditional SUV-style appearance.

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Exterior: Modern EV Styling with Traditional SUV Design

The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan’s exterior design is based on the brand’s ‘Pure Positive’ design language. The front profile features LED headlamps, connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and an illuminated Volkswagen logo. These elements are integrated within black trim, giving the SUV a modern EV look.
The front bumper features air curtains on the sides, while fog lamps and a trapezoidal air intake are placed below. Subtle black cladding on the lower section enhances the rugged appearance of the SUV. The overall design attempts to maintain traditional SUV proportions with aerodynamic detailing.
The side profile features an upward-kinked windowline, pull-type door handles, and aero-optimized alloy wheels. The black wheel-arch cladding and the black stripe on the lower section of the doors make the SUV’s design visually muscular. The C-pillar also features a black element, which adds a distinctive touch to the exterior styling.

The rear section features wraparound LED tail-lamps with rectangular lighting signatures. The two taillights are visually connected through an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The tailgate features ID. Tiguan badging and a diffuser-style design on the bumper.
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan also offers considerable practicality. According to Volkswagen, the SUV will offer up to 534 liters of boot space and up to 32 liters of storage capacity in the front trunk (frunk).

Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Interior: Triple-Screen Dashboard and Physical Buttons
The cabin features an all-black theme with silver accents. The dashboard layout follows a layered design, and its most noticeable element is the triple-screen setup. It includes a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10-inch digital driver display, and a 12-inch passenger screen.
Despite the screen-heavy dashboard, Volkswagen has retained physical buttons for some important functions. Physical buttons are available for HVAC controls, while multiple physical controls are also provided on the two-spoke steering wheel. The driver display will also have themes inspired by the instrument dials of older Volkswagen models.

The center console has a high-set design and cubbyholes for storing small items. Talking about features, the ID. Tiguan includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, connected-car technology, and ambient lighting.
Front seats will be powered and will have memory, massage, and ventilation functions. Premium audio will be provided with a Harman Kardon sound system. The SUV will also feature ADAS features and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing compatible external devices to be powered by the vehicle’s battery.
Volkswagen will offer the ID. Tiguan in four trim levels: Trend, Life, Style, and R-Line. Features and equipment may vary between trims.
Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Battery, Power, and Range
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan powertrain lineup is built around two battery options. The entry-level configuration will feature a rear-mounted electric motor with a 58 kWh battery pack, producing 190 hp. This setup will be available in rear-wheel-drive configurations.

The source references 77 kWh for the larger battery pack, and 78 kWh in a section of the powertrain details. Therefore, the final battery capacity will need to be confirmed with Volkswagen’s detailed technical specifications. Both RWD and AWD configurations will be available with the larger battery option.
The RWD version will produce 286 hp, while the AWD variant will output up to 299 hp. This way, buyers will have a choice between an efficiency-focused setup and a higher-performance all-wheel-drive option.
Speaking of range, Volkswagen’s estimated maximum WLTP range figure is up to 600 km. Note that this is a company forecast; actual driving range may vary depending on speed, temperature, driving style, and road conditions.
Volkswagen has not yet revealed details regarding charging speed and battery charging time. The SUV’s towing capacity can reach up to 2,000 kg depending on the battery and configuration.
Volkswagen ID. Tiguan India Launch: What to Expect?
Currently, the Volkswagen ID. Tiguan has been unveiled for the European market, with a global launch planned for 2027. The company has not confirmed an India launch. Therefore, there are no confirmed details regarding the availability, pricing, and launch timeline of this electric SUV in the Indian market.
If it does make it to India in the future, it could be positioned in the premium electric SUV segment. However, any expectations regarding a local launch, specifications, or pricing should not be considered confirmed information.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan could be an important addition to the brand’s electric strategy. Traditional SUV-inspired design, up to 299 hp power output, multiple battery configurations, and a company-claimed WLTP range of up to 600 km make it a promising electric SUV.
Retaining the physical buttons along with the triple-screen layout in the cabin is also a practical approach, while features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated and massaging front seats, ADAS and V2L make it a technology-focused package.
Important details like charging performance, final battery specifications and market-wise availability are yet to be revealed. These details will help in better understanding the real-world capability and market positioning of the ID Tiguan closer to the 2027 global launch.
