Honda 0 Alpha India Debut on December 2, Brand’s First Electric SUV Nears Production

Honda India is preparing to bring its first all-electric car to the Indian market. The production-spec version of the company’s upcoming Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV will debut in India on December 2.

This will be an important step in Honda’s EV plans after the 0 Alpha concept that was unveiled in October 2025, as the production version will become the brand’s first all-electric vehicle in India.

The final production name of this upcoming SUV is expected to be revealed in November, according to sources. A heavily camouflaged test vehicle has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. Honda has not yet officially announced key details like battery capacity, driving range, and pricing, so these specifications should be considered as expected information for now.

Honda has confirmed that the upcoming SUV will feature two battery pack options. Both battery packs are said to use LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. Reports suggest their capacity could range from approximately 65 kWh to 75 kWh, but final battery specifications have not yet been officially confirmed.

The Honda 0 Alpha is expected to feature a single-motor, front-wheel-drive setup at launch. This configuration could make the SUV suitable for everyday urban use and family-focused driving, but actual performance and driving range will only be assessed once official technical details are released.

The decision to offer two battery options could provide buyers with choices based on different price points and driving requirements. However, Honda has not yet revealed the difference in range, charging speed, or power output between the two packs.

Design: Expect a Bold Look Like the Concept

The Honda 0 Alpha concept was unveiled in October 2025. The company indicated at the time that the concept’s design closely resembled the production model. Recent spy shots also suggest that the final SUV may largely retain its distinctive styling.

Its rear section may feature a near-vertical design, while a thick C-pillar and large rear windscreen give the SUV a distinct visual identity. The lower section of the rear bumper is also prominent, where diffuser-style trim is expected. The overall silhouette differs from conventional Honda SUVs.

The front section is likely to feature an illuminated Honda logo and charging port. However, due to camouflage, the final lighting elements, bumper design, and exterior detailing of the production model cannot be fully confirmed yet.

Earlier spy images of the test vehicle revealed some of the cabin. It revealed a large central touchscreen and a comparatively smaller digital driver display to its right. The steering wheel is a three-spoke, flat-bottom design, while physical buttons were also visible on the center console.

These buttons could be for functions like climate control and ventilated seats, but their exact purpose and equipment list in the final production model are yet to be confirmed. The presence of physical controls could be useful for buyers who don’t like to operate every function from a touchscreen while driving.

The wheelbase of the Honda 0 Alpha is estimated to be around 2,700mm to 2,800mm. If these dimensions are found in the production model, it could help prioritize cabin space and rear-seat accommodation. The upright tailgate design could also be practical for luggage space, but an official figure for the boot capacity is not yet available.

Honda’s First Electric SUV to Be Made in India

The Honda Alpha is expected to be produced in India, and the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan could serve as its manufacturing base. Local manufacturing could help Honda introduce the EV to the Indian market, but details on production volumes and localization levels are not yet known.

Upon launch in the Indian market, this SUV could compete against electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. The final scope of competition with these models will depend on Honda’s pricing, battery options, range, and feature packages.

The biggest challenge for Honda will not only be launching an electric SUV, but also giving buyers confidence in charging convenience, ownership costs, and after-sales support. In this segment, charging speed, warranty, and real-world efficiency, along with range, also influence the purchase decision.

Honda 0 Alpha India Debut: What to Expect

The production-spec debut on December 2nd will be an important opportunity to understand the Honda 0 Alpha’s design and market positioning. After that, the picture may become clearer regarding battery specifications, performance, charging details, and a final name.

Currently, Honda has not announced pricing, a certified range, or a complete feature list. Therefore, it would be premature to declare the SUV superior to any rival. Indian buyers will see the real picture when Honda shares official specifications and launch plans.

Auto India Daily Verdict

The Honda 0 Alpha could be an important product, as it is set to be the brand’s first all-electric vehicle in India. Two LFP battery options, an expected front-wheel-drive layout, and a space-focused design could make it relevant in the family EV segment.

But its success will largely depend on pricing, practical driving range, charging capability, and service support. The December 2 debut is expected to provide clarity on the design and production model, while official specifications should be awaited for final buying recommendations.
