Mahindra XUV 7XO Bharat NCAP Rating: 5-Star Safety Score Explained

The Mahindra XUV 7XO has further strengthened its safety credentials by achieving a 5-star safety rating in the Mahindra XUV 7XO Bharat NCAP crash test.

The SUV scored 30.76 points out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test and 44.97 points out of 49 in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) test.

Bharat NCAP crash tested the 7-seater AX7 diesel-automatic FWD and AWD variants of the XUV 7XO. Importantly, the 5-star safety rating result of this test applies to the entire variant range of the XUV 7XO.

XUV 7XO Bharat NCAP: Adult Occupant Protection

Mahindra XUV 7XO Bharat NCAP adult occupant protection test score of 30.76 out of 32

The Mahindra XUV 7XO scored 30.76/32 points in the adult occupant protection category. The SUV scored 14.76/16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, while it achieved a full 16/16 points in the side-movable deformable barrier test.

In the frontal crash test, the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet received a good protection rating. Adequate protection was provided to the chest and tibia. Except for the co-driver’s tibia, all other critical body areas received good protection.

In the side-movable deformable barrier test, the passenger’s head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis received good protection. The XUV 7XO also scored ‘OK’ in the side pole impact test.

Strong Performance in Child Occupant Protection

The XUV 7XO scored 44.97 points out of 49 in the child occupant protection test. The dynamic child protection score was 23.97/24, while the SUV achieved a full 12/12 points in the CRS installation score. The Vehicle Assessment category scored 9/13 points.

During the crash test, 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies were placed in rearward-facing child seats. In the frontal crash, the 18-month-old dummy scored 7.97/8 points, and the 3-year-old dummy scored a full 8/8 points.

Both child dummies scored a full 4/4 points in the side crash test. A deduction of just 0.03 points resulted in a dynamic child protection score of 23.97 out of 24.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO is marketed with a safety-focused package. The SUV comes with standard safety equipment including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill-hold and hill-descent assist, traction control, and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages.

Advanced features like a 360-degree/540-degree surround-view camera, tire pressure monitoring system, and Level 2 ADAS are also available in higher variants. According to Mahindra, the XUV 7XO comes with over 120 safety features and 75 standard safety features.

The Level 2 ADAS package includes multiple driver-assistance functions, providing additional support to the driver during highway driving. Higher variants extend curtain airbag coverage to the third row.

XUV 7XO Price and Competition

The current starting price of the Mahindra XUV 7XO is around ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while higher variants can cost upwards of Rs. 25 lakh.
