MG Motor seems to be preparing to take its Indian portfolio to the next level. MG Hector Hawk Spotted testing images have once again strengthened the speculation that the company is in the final development stage of launching its next-generation electrified SUV.

According to reports, this SUV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 available in the international market and could be introduced in India around August 2026.
The most important thing is that the company is planning to launch it not only in electric but also with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option.
The new SUV is being developed on MG’s recently revealed ADAPT platform. After launch, it could face competition from models like the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XEV 9S.

What did the latest spy shots reveal?
In the MG Hector Hawk Spotted images that have surfaced this time, the SUV is still seen in heavy camouflage, but some important design elements are more clearly visible than before.
The front profile shows rectangular LED headlamps with upper and lower LED daytime running lights. The most interesting observation is regarding the front grille, which appears to be completely closed.
This is why it is believed that the prototype spotted during testing could be an electric version.
The side profile has also been kept quite clean. The charging port is clearly visible on the left rear fender, while aerodynamic alloy wheels and simple body surfacing give the SUV a modern appearance. Connected wraparound LED taillights, a roof spoiler, and a rear wiper have also been spotted in spy shots.
Expect a Minimalist Cabin Layout
Official interior images have not yet surfaced, but judging by the international-spec model, the cabin layout could be quite modern.
The dashboard could feature a dual, free-standing display setup, likely consisting of an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
MG is developing this SUV with family buyers in mind, so it could feature a 7-seat layout and leatherette upholstery. Expect cabin features like a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents with automatic climate control, and a premium audio system.
ADAS and Safety Features May Also Be Strong
Looking at the expected equipment list, there’s a significant focus on safety. Six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic parking brake, hill-hold assist, and a rear parking camera are expected as standard. Both EV and PHEV Powertrain Options Prepared
MG India may introduce this SUV with two different powertrain options.
The plug-in hybrid version could feature a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery pack. Combined output is expected to be approximately 195 hp and 230 Nm. The company claims an all-electric driving range of approximately 125 km based on international specifications.
The pure electric version could feature a 69.2 kWh battery pack that will generate 201 hp with a front-mounted electric motor. Its CLTC-certified range could be up to 530 km based on international specifications. Real-world range may vary depending on driving conditions.

Where will it fit into MG’s EV portfolio?
Looking at the company’s current lineup, the Hector Hawk could occupy an important position. The plug-in hybrid variant could be positioned above the existing Hector, while the electric version could come as a premium offering above the ZS EV in MG’s EV portfolio.
