JSW MG Motor India has launched the MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV at an introductory price of Rs 25.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new plug-in hybrid SUV has been introduced alongside the fully electric Hector Tomahawk EV and is positioned as India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV.

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is claimed to offer more than 115km of pure electric driving range, while its combined fuel efficiency is rated at over 40kpl.
MG also claims a total driving range of more than 1,100km with a fully charged battery and a full tank of fuel.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV Price and Variants
The plug-in hybrid SUV is available in two 7-seat variants:

MG is also offering the MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. Prices under BaaS start at Rs 21.79 lakh, while the battery rental is charged at Rs 3.20 per km.
Bookings have commenced, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Petrol Engine and Electric Powertrain
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor. This setup allows the SUV to operate on electric power for daily trips while retaining the petrol engine for longer journeys.
MG claims an electric-only range of over 115km, which could make the Tomahawk PHEV suitable for many daily commutes without using the petrol engine. The claimed combined efficiency of over 40kpl and 1,100km-plus overall range further strengthen its touring credentials.

7-Seater SUV With Large Dimensions
Unlike the fully electric Hector Tomahawk, which is offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations, the MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is currently available exclusively as a 7-seater.
The SUV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height, while its wheelbase stands at 2,810mm. This makes it longer than rivals such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
The Tomahawk PHEV therefore combines three-row practicality with the potential efficiency benefits of plug-in hybrid technology.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV Rivals
The new SUV will compete in the premium three-row SUV space against models such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. However, its plug-in hybrid powertrain gives it a different proposition from conventional petrol and diesel SUVs.

At Rs 25.70 lakh, however, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV enters a competitive price bracket. Its long-term success will ultimately depend on real-world electric range, fuel efficiency, charging convenience and running costs.
If MG can deliver figures close to its claims in everyday driving, the Tomahawk PHEV could carve out a unique position among India’s premium three-row SUVs.
