The wait for the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is almost over. The company’s new adventure motorcycle has been spotted at a dealership a few days before its launch.
Showroom photos of the bike have revealed several key details related to its design, wheel setup, and instrument cluster.

The company is likely to position the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 as a simpler and more accessible adventure motorcycle than the current Himalayan 450. Its mechanical package is expected to remain largely similar to the Scram 440, but its off-road-focused setup could see significant changes to the wheels and suspension.
Reports suggest the Himalayan 440 is set to be officially launched on September 4, 2026. Dealership spotting also indicates that deliveries may begin soon after launch.

The Himalayan 440 is expected to share the Scram 440’s engine
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is expected to use the same LS440 engine as the Scram 440.
The Scram 440’s 443cc-class LS440 single-cylinder engine produces 25.4 hp and 34 Nm of torque. This engine is slightly more powerful than the LS411 motor in the previous Himalayan 411, which produced 24.5 hp and 32 Nm.
There were no significant engine differences between the Himalayan 411 and Scram 411. Similarly, the Himalayan 440 is expected to retain the Scram 440’s powertrain largely unchanged.
This means that Royal Enfield may focus more on the chassis, suspension, and wheel setup of this bike rather than on more aggressive engine tuning.
A 21-Inch Front Wheel Will Make a Big Difference
The biggest visual and mechanical difference between the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 and Scram 440 could be their wheels.
The Scram 440 comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, while the Himalayan 440 seen in the showroom featured a 21-inch front wire-spoke wheel. The rear wheel is also expected to come with a 17-inch setup.
A 21-inch front wheel is more common on adventure motorcycles as it helps the motorcycle handle better on rough terrain, rocks, and uneven surfaces.
The new Himalayan 440 appears to feature wire-spoke wheels with tubed tires. However, it is not clear whether these are specifications of the standard variant or a specific version.
Royal Enfield may also offer cross-spoke wheels and tubeless tires in a higher variant in the future. If the company doesn’t offer these as standard, they may be available as accessories.
The suspension will also be different from the Scram 440
Along with the wheel setup, the Himalayan 440 is expected to have more suspension travel than the Scram 440.
This will aim to make the motorcycle more capable on rough roads and light off-road conditions. This setup could help give it a distinct character from the Scram 440.
However, official confirmation of the exact suspension specifications and travel figures is expected at launch.
The Himalayan 411’s instrument cluster will no longer be available
One of the most noticeable changes in the new Himalayan 440 is its instrument cluster.
The old Himalayan 411 featured an aircraft-inspired four-pod instrument cluster, but Royal Enfield has adopted a much simpler setup in the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440.
The showroom motorcycle features a twin-pod instrument cluster, which looks very similar to the Scram 440. Consequently, the motorcycle is unlikely to feature a traditional tachometer.
Instead, Royal Enfield may offer a Tripper navigation pod, which could support Google Maps-powered turn-by-turn navigation.
This feature could make the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 more practical for daily commuting, especially for riders who want to use the motorcycle for both touring and city riding.
However, there’s also the possibility that the company could offer a simpler setup with just a speedometer in the lower variant and include Tripper navigation in the higher variant.

Switchgear also similar to Scram 440
The switchgear of the motorcycle spotted in the showroom is also said to be very similar to the Scram 440.
This indicates that Royal Enfield is developing the Himalayan 440 with more extensive use of the existing platform and components rather than building a completely new motorcycle.
This approach allows the company to keep manufacturing and development costs under control, while retaining the adventure-focused character associated with the Himalayan name.
New Color Options May Be Available
The showroom image also reveals the motorcycle’s white rear fender, raising expectations about its color options.
Royal Enfield may introduce new color combinations to distinguish the Himalayan 440 from the Himalayan 411. However, the exact color palette has not been revealed before launch.
Who will the Himalayan 440 be for?
The Himalayan 450 is a more modern and technically advanced adventure motorcycle in Royal Enfield’s portfolio. The company may position the Himalayan 440 as a simpler alternative.
Its relatively simple mechanical package could attract buyers who want adventure styling and a 21-inch front wheel, but don’t feel the need for the Himalayan 450’s more complex technology and higher positioning.
If priced aggressively between the Scram 440 and the Himalayan 450, the Himalayan 440 could be an interesting option in Royal Enfield’s portfolio.

Currently, showroom spotting suggests that the Himalayan 440 could feature elements like the LS440 engine, 21/17-inch wire-spoke wheels, a more adventure-oriented suspension setup, and a Scram 440-inspired instrument cluster.
The biggest question now is pricing and variants. If Royal Enfield launches it at the right price point, the Himalayan 440 could be a strong option for buyers who want a traditional adventure motorcycle but prefer a simpler package than the Himalayan 450.
