India’s electric two-wheeler market registered a record 2.23 lakh retail sales in October 2026, a year-on-year growth of 48%. Sales also increased by approximately 7% compared to September 2026.
TVS Motor Company led the market with 60,429 units, followed by Bajaj Auto with 49,067 units. Ather Energy recorded 31,796 units and Hero Vida 29,901 units. Ola Electric sales stood at 12,096 units, a 26% year-on-year decline.
With October’s record performance, cumulative electric two-wheeler retail sales for JanuaryโOctober 2026 reached 17.9 lakh units, higher than 13.4 lakh units for the entire 2025.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported total sales of 30,360 vehicles in October 2026. This included 29,521 units in the domestic market and 839 units in exports. The company’s year-on-year sales declined, but compared to September 2026, volumes increased 7.59% month-on-month.

Eicher Motors’ Royal Enfield business recorded 1.33 lakh total vehicle sales in October 2026, a year-on-year growth of 7%. Domestic sales stood at approximately 1.22 lakh units, while exports saw a strong jump of 47% to 11,915 units.
Strong domestic demand along with export momentum also supported Royal Enfield’s October performance.

TVS Motor Company recorded total sales of 700,134 units in October 2026 across two-wheelers and other vehicle categories, a year-on-year growth of 29%. A major highlight of this performance was the electric two-wheeler segment, where sales jumped 120%.
This growth, along with TVS’s overall sales momentum, also highlights the increasing demand in the Indian electric two-wheeler market.

Maruti Suzuki India recorded sales of 2,12,384 domestic passenger vehicles in October 2026, which is 20.5% growth year-on-year. The company’s total wholesale dispatches were 2,76,120 units, of which exports contributed 49,872 units.
With this performance, Maruti Suzuki remained the leading automaker of the Indian passenger vehicle market in October, driven by strong domestic demand and export volumes.

India’s passenger vehicle market achieved a new milestone in October 2026. Domestic PV wholesales are expected to be in the estimated range of 5.25โ5.30 lakh units, which would be approximately 13โ15% growth compared to 4.6 lakh units in October 2025.
Maruti Suzuki reported 2.12 lakh units in domestic dispatches, Tata Motors 73,894 units, Mahindra 73,338 units, and Hyundai 62,799 units. Dealership stocking ahead of the festive season also played an important role in October wholesales, with Dhanteras and Diwali falling in the first half of November.
Important: 5.25โ5.30 lakh units is an industry estimate, not the final confirmed industry total. Wholesale dispatches must be understood separately from retail registrations.

Kia India reported record wholesale sales of 33,462 units in October 2026, a year-on-year growth of 13.2%. The company broke its monthly sales record for the second consecutive month, with the Seltos contributing more than 13,000 units.
Kia’s cumulative sales during JanuaryโOctober 2026 reached 286,470 units, exceeding the 280,286 units sold for the entire calendar year 2025. EV sales grew 31% month-on-month, while CNG models contributed nearly 10% to October volumes.

Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever monthly sales of 73,058 SUVs in October 2026. Small car sales also increased 38% YoY to 40,646 units. The company sold 87,000 CNG vehicles during the month, accounting for nearly 40% of total sales. CNG supply constraints remain a challenge, but the company is making efforts to improve availability.

Demand for models like the WagonR, Baleno, Dzire, and Ertiga also remains healthy.

JSW MG Motor India reported sales of 8,013 wholesale units in October 2026, a growth of 19% compared to the same month last year. The company’s October performance was supported by festive-season demand and its updated product portfolio.
Customer deliveries of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV also began in October. This electric SUV is equipped with a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack, which comes with an electric motor that generates 204 PS of power and 310 Nm of torque. According to MG, its certified driving range is 517 km. Apart from this, the company also introduced a special Indulge Edition of the Windsor EV, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 17.99 lakh.
With both additions, JSW MG Motor India has further expanded its electric vehicle portfolio. The 19% growth in October sales indicates positive momentum for the company during the festive period.

Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle (CV) business reported strong sales growth in October 2026. The company’s total commercial vehicle sales increased 27% year-on-year to 47,652 units. Positive momentum also prevailed in the domestic market, with sales increasing 13% to 39,784 units.
The Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) segment also contributed to growth. HCV sales increased 12% to 12,030 units in October 2026. Meanwhile, international business volumes also saw a significant improvement, with the company reporting 7,868 units as compared to 2,422 units in October 2025.
Contribution from both domestic demand and international business makes the October performance of Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle segment strong.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles reported strong sales performance in October 2026. The company’s total passenger vehicle sales increased 23% year-on-year to 75,426 units. This growth was driven by both the domestic market and international sales.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales increased 21% to 73,894 units in October. Meanwhile, international passenger vehicle sales recorded a significant 852% growth to 1,532 units.
Improved performance in overseas markets, along with domestic demand, supported Tata Motors PV’s October sales growth.

Escorts Kubota reported a 10% year-on-year decline in total sales in October 2026. The company’s total sales declined to 16,921 units compared to October 2025. Domestic sales also weakened, falling 10.9% to 16,412 units.
However, exports showed positive performance. Escorts Kubota’s exports increased by 35.7% to 509 units in October 2026. Thus, despite the decline in the domestic market, overseas shipments recorded growth.

Eicher Motors’ VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) business reported strong sales growth in October 2026. The company’s total sales increased 34.9% year-on-year to 10,861 units, while domestic sales recorded 9,676 units with a growth of 36.9%.
Exports also showed positive performance. VECV exports increased 30% to 911 units in October 2026. Both domestic demand and overseas shipments contributed to the company’s overall sales growth.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported its highest-ever total monthly sales in October 2026. The company dispatched 82,299 units, including the domestic market and exports, a year-on-year growth of 17.7% compared to October 2025.
Domestic sales increased 16.7% to 62,799 units, while exports recorded a growth of 21.1% to 19,500 units. Both the domestic market and overseas demand contributed to Hyundai’s record monthly performance.
According to Hyundai Motor India MD and CEO Tarun Garg, strong festive demand and healthy momentum in domestic and export markets helped the company achieve this milestone. He also said that the newly launched Hyundai BAYON India along with presence in over 50 export markets can further support the company’s growth.
The October figures highlight the strong performance of both festive-season demand and export business for Hyundai.

10:50 โ October 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: Mahindra Records Highest-Ever Monthly SUV Sales at 73,338 Units
Mahindra & Mahindra recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic SUV sales in October 2026. The company sold 73,338 utility vehicles (SUVs), a 2% increase compared to 71,624 units in October 2025. Mahindra’s total automotive sales also increased 9% year-on-year to 131,109 units.
Domestic sales in the commercial vehicle segment increased 4% to 33,037 units. In this, sales of LCV below 2-tonne category stood at 4,383 units and sales of 2-tonne to 3.5-tonne category stood at 28,654 units. Three-wheeler segment also showed strong performance, where domestic sales increased by 38% to 17,632 units.
Exports also saw an impressive growth of 77%, and Mahindra exported 7,102 units in October 2026. Festive demand and refreshed product portfolio for the company’s automotive business supported the sales performance.
Farm Equipment Business: In contrast to the automotive segment, Mahindra’s domestic tractor sales fell by 13% to 62,626 units, while in October 2025 it was 72,071 units. The company attributed this to the festive calendar shift, as last year Diwali was in October, while this year it is in November. Tractor exports increased by 40% to 2,220 units.

Maruti Suzuki India has crossed the cumulative export milestone of 50,000 electric vehicles since starting global shipments in August 2025. According to the company’s official announcement of October 29, 2026, Maruti Suzuki will account for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports during AprilโSeptember 2026.
The company currently exports its EVs to nearly 50 countries, including markets such as the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. Europe remains Maruti Suzuki’s largest export destination.
According to Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi, the company’s EV export journey began in August 2025 with the e-VITARA. Manufactured at the Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, the e-VITARA is a key part of the company’s global EV export strategy.
Maruti Suzuki currently exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries. This milestone highlights the company’s growing presence in Indian manufacturing and the global EV market.

Maruti Suzuki could cross the milestone of total wholesale dispatches of 2.5 lakh units in October 2026. According to a Financial Express report dated October 31, the company’s domestic dispatches are expected to exceed 2.15 lakh units due to festive-season demand. This will also include exports.
According to the report, Maruti Suzuki’s total wholesales were approximately 2.36 lakh units in September, compared to 2.19 lakh units in August. Small cars and SUVs contributed to the strong demand in October. The company reported a 35% growth in retail sales between Ganesh Chaturthi and Dussehra, with SUV retail sales doubling.
The company’s pending bookings also increased from around 2 lakh units at the beginning of October to 2.7 lakh units after Dussehra. This is a strong demand indicator for October sales performance.

Indian passenger vehicle wholesale sales hovered around 400,000 units in September 2026. Maruti Suzuki remained the market leader with 168,744 units, while Tata Motors secured the second position, surpassing Mahindra by just 227 units.
Four of the top five carmakers reported month-on-month (MoM) sales declines. Kia India and Renault were the only manufacturers to register growth compared to August. Kia sales increased by 10.24% and Renault by 19.60%.
It remains to be seen from the sales figures of October 2026 how much the festive-season demand supported the performance of the manufacturers and whether there was any major change in the market ranking or not.
