But this time, Hero hasn’t focused solely on engine capacity. The company has also added Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, along with long-travel adjustable suspension. These features could make the Hero Xpulse 450 an interesting option in the adventure motorcycle segment.
Hero has confirmed that the motorcycle will be launched in European markets first, followed by its introduction in the Indian market. However, the exact date and pricing for the India launch have not yet been revealed.

Hero Xpulse 450 Engine and Performance

The most significant update to the new Hero Xpulse 450 is its all-new 421cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This powertrain produces 46.7 hp of maximum power at 9,100 rpm and 38 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Hero has confirmed a slip-and-assist clutch as standard equipment on this motorcycle. This could make gear shifts comparatively smoother and clutch operation easier, especially in challenging riding conditions.

In terms of performance, the Xpulse 450 is significantly ahead of its smaller sibling, the Xpulse 210. For comparison, the Xpulse 210’s 210cc liquid-cooled engine produces 24.6 hp and 20.7 Nm of torque. Thus, the new motorcycle offers a substantial upgrade in both power and torque.
Hero has not yet shared the engine’s mileage, top speed, and detailed performance figures. These details will have to be awaited from the company’s full technical specification sheet.
Adjustable KYB Suspension and Off-Road Hardware

The Hero Xpulse 450 has been developed for off-road riding, and its suspension setup reflects this approach. The motorcycle features 43mm KYB cartridge-type upside-down forks at the front, offering 225mm of suspension travel.
An important feature of this suspension is 22-step adjustability. Riders will be able to adjust the compression and rebound settings according to their riding needs and terrain. In comparison, the Xpulse 210’s front suspension offers 210mm of travel and lacks adjustment options.
Complete rear suspension specifications have not yet been revealed. Therefore, no confirmed details are currently available regarding rear travel and adjustment options.
The motorcycle also features tubeless spoke wheels. The EICMA showcase featured a 19-inch tire setup on the front wheel and a 17-inch tire setup on the rear. This combination is designed with both road and off-road use in mind.

Hero says the Xpulse 450 was developed with direct input from the Hero MotoSports team, indicating an off-road-focused development approach for the motorcycle.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Make It Stand Out
Another major highlight of the Hero Xpulse 450 is its connectivity package. The company has confirmed built-in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. This feature could make it a distinctive offering in the adventure motorcycle segment.

The motorcycle showcased at EICMA features an approximately 7-inch TFT instrument display, through which connectivity-related functions can be operated. However, Hero has not yet shared the complete specifications of the display and the detailed list of connectivity features.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support can help riders access compatible smartphone features. The navigation and connected functions can also be more convenient during long-distance touring.
The company has not yet revealed complete details of riding modes, traction control, ABS settings and other electronic features. Therefore, a better idea of the motorcycle’s overall technology package will be available only after the final equipment list is revealed.
Hero Xpulse 450 India Launch and Expected Rivals

Hero MotoCorp has confirmed that the Xpulse 450 will launch first in European markets, with an India launch following. The company has not yet announced an Indian launch timeline or expected pricing.
Upon its arrival in the Indian market, it could compete with motorcycles like the KTM 390 Adventure S and R, as well as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This segment is known for its combination of performance, touring capability, and off-road hardware.
The Xpulse 450’s final positioning will depend on its India pricing and equipment list. If Hero offers features like adjustable suspension and smartphone connectivity along with competitive pricing, the motorcycle could become an interesting alternative for adventure bike buyers.
Auto India Daily Verdict
The Hero Xpulse 450 is a significant step-up for the Xpulse family. The new 421cc engine, 46.7hp power output, and adjustable KYB front suspension place it in a distinct category from the Xpulse 210. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are an additional attraction.
The most important question now is India launch pricing and final specifications. If Hero launches it at a competitive price, the Hero Xpulse 450 could provide strong competition in the Indian mid-capacity adventure motorcycle segment. For now, Indian buyers will have to wait for the company’s official launch announcement.
