Hyundai Motor India has revealed the first official Hyundai Bayon Design Sketches of its upcoming SUV. The company confirmed the SUV’s name on September 14th and has now given the first clear glimpse of its design direction through exterior and interior sketches.

Hyundai is developing the India-spec Bayon with its evolving Art of Steel design philosophy, which gives the SUV an upright stance, sharp character lines, and distinctive lighting elements.

Hyundai Bayon Design Sketches: front with H-Edge Lighting
The most noticeable element in the Hyundai Bayon Design Sketches is its signature H-Edge lighting. The front profile features prominent lighting treatment below the sculpted hood, while pronounced fenders give the SUV’s front section a wider appearance.
Substantial design elements can also be seen in the front bumper and lower body. With sharp surfaces and defined character lines, Hyundai has attempted to give the Bayon a more upright and SUV-focused appearance than a conventional crossover.
According to Hyundai, the Bayon’s exterior is the latest interpretation of its Art of Steel design philosophy. This approach combines architectural proportions, carefully sculpted surfaces, and strong character lines.
Simon Loosby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, also highlighted the sculpted hood, fender volumes, and H-Edge lighting as key visual elements in the Bayon’s design.
Hyundai Bayon Interior Sketch: Digital and Tech-Focused Cabin
Along with the exterior, Hyundai has also released an official design sketch of the Bayon’s cabin. The sketch shows the dashboard with a technology-focused layout, with a prominent central infotainment display and digital driver information area.
The overall Hyundai Bayon Design Sketches of the dashboard offers a driver-oriented feel, while connected technology and intuitive interaction are made an important part of the cabin experience. Hyundai has not yet confirmed the screen size, variant-wise features, or the final equipment list, so the sketch cannot be considered an exact representation of production specifications.
Earlier spy images of test vehicles also revealed elements like a modern dashboard, integrated digital displays, and Hyundai’s latest steering-wheel design. Reports suggest features like a 360-degree camera and a sunroof were also observed on test mules, but the complete India-spec feature list is still pending.

The Hyundai Bayon is being positioned between the Venue and Creta in the company’s SUV lineup in India. Hyundai has officially introduced it as an India-focused new global SUV, while previous reports suggest that the India-spec version may differ from the international Bayon in terms of styling and proportions.
The SUV was spotted testing in India with a relatively upright roofline, prominent wheel arches, roof rails, and a practical rear profile. This indicates that the production version has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of Indian SUV buyers.

The Hyundai Bayon’s name is inspired by the city of Bayonne
Hyundai has said the Bayon name is inspired by Bayonne, a city located in the Basque region of France. According to the company, the name represents its global design philosophy and the character of the new SUV developed for India.
Hyundai has also highlighted the “Intelligence ON” theme in Bayon’s communications, placing a central focus on technology, connectivity, and human-centric interaction.
Engine and Price Details Not Official Yet
Hyundai has not officially announced the Bayon’s engine options, gearbox, dimensions, pricing, and complete specifications alongside the latest design reveal. Therefore, the 1.5-liter petrol, CNG, or any specific transmission combination should be considered expected information for now.
Earlier reports have discussed the possibility of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a factory-fitted CNG option for the India-spec SUV. However, these powertrain details have not been confirmed in Hyundai’s current official communication.
Hyundai Bayon India Launch: What’s known?
Hyundai has officially stated that more details about the Bayon will be revealed in the coming weeks. Reports of a festive-season launch have surfaced, and some reports also expect a late October launch, but Hyundai has not yet announced an exact launch date.
So, the only confirmed information at this time is that the Hyundai Bayon is an upcoming SUV for India, its name has been officially confirmed, and the company has revealed its exterior-interior design direction.
