The Kia Carens Clavis automatic has now become significantly more accessible than before. The company has added new automatic powertrain options to the lower-spec HTE(O) and HTE(EX) variants of the Kia Carens Clavis Automatic range, bringing the entry price of the 7-speed DCT to Rs. 14.67 lakh.

Kia has also introduced a diesel automatic option with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol DCT in the HTE(O) variant, while the HTE(EX) also gets a turbo-petrol DCT combination. All prices are ex-showroom, India.

Kia Carens Clavis Automatic New Prices
With the new variants, the entry price of the Carens Clavis automatic lineup has come down significantly. The turbo-petrol DCT is now available in the HTE(O) trim at Rs. It starts from Rs 14.67 lakh.

According to Kia’s official specifications, the HTE(O) also offers automatic-specific features like drive modes, smart key with push-button start, remote engine start, and electronic parking brake, along with AT/DCT versions.
Nearly Rs. 2 Lakh Lower Entry Price
The biggest highlight of this update is the lower entry price of the automatic gearbox. Previously, buyers had to move up to the higher HTK+ variant for the turbo-petrol DCT, which was priced around Rs. 16.44 lakh, according to Kia India’s current trim listing.
With the HTE(O) turbo-petrol DCT now available for Rs. 14.67 lakh, purchasing the automatic Carens Clavis will no longer be necessary.
The diesel automatic is also now available in the HTE(O) starting at Rs. 15.82 lakh. This has also significantly lowered the entry point of the diesel-automatic combination compared to the higher variants.
Same 1.5-Liter Turbo-Petrol Engine
Kia has not detuned the powertrain in the new lower-spec automatic variants. The 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine produces 160hp and 253Nm and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
This means buyers will not have to compromise on engine performance by choosing the lower variant. The naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine of the Kia Carens Clavis continues as a separate powertrain option.

Diesel Automatic Gets 116hp and 250Nm
The diesel option gets the familiar 1.5-liter CRDi engine. This engine produces 116 hp and 250 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
The HTE(O) diesel automatic, priced at Rs. 15.82 lakh, may be relevant for buyers who expect regular highway driving or higher annual mileage with a three-row family car.
New Automatic Pack Adds Extra Convenience
Kia has also offered a dedicated Automatic Pack with the new automatic variants. This includes features like a smart key with motion sensor, push-button start, selectable drive modes, electronic parking brake, and remote engine start.
The HTE(O) also gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and other everyday equipment.
The HTE(EX) DCT costs Rs. 55,000 More
HTE(EX) DCT variant has also been introduced above HTE(O) DCT. Iski price Rs. 15.22 lakh, i.e. HTE(O) DCT to Rs. 55,000 more.
Higher HTE(EX) trim comes with additional equipment, including automatic climate control and electric sunroof-related equipment, making it a more feature-rich option within the new lower-priced automatic range. Kia’s official feature listing confirms the HTE(EX) sits above HTE(O) in the lineup.
What You Miss Compared With Higher Variants?
The biggest advantage of lower HTE-based automatic variants is price, but higher variants offer additional convenience and premium equipment.
Higher trims mein larger infotainment setup, additional parking/driver-assistance features, connected lighting elements, premium cabin equipment, panoramic sunroof and other features available depending on variant. Kia’s official trim comparison shows features such as 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, panoramic sunroof and advanced connected functions on higher variants.
So the main decision for the buyer will be whether automatic gearbox is priority or additional premium features.
