New Hyundai Midsize SUV has once again been spotted testing on Indian roads. Launched around the festive season, the SUV will be positioned below the Hyundai Creta, but its overall size is expected to be over 4 meters.
The latest spy shots give a much clearer view of the SUV’s exterior than before.

This upcoming model is related to the international-market Hyundai Bayon, but the India-spec version will have a significantly different exterior design. Hyundai is likely positioning this SUV as a practical crossover-style product that will attract buyers at a lower price point than the Creta.

New Hyundai Midsize SUV: Design Clear Before Launch
Despite the heavy camouflage, the SUV’s overall shape is quite clear from the latest test mule. Its stance appears crossover-inspired rather than a traditional boxy SUV.
Hyundai has used a split lighting setup in the front profile. A slim, full-width LED light signature is provided at the top, while the main headlamp units are positioned in the bumper area. The headlamp design may also reflect visual influences similar to the Hyundai Verna.
The front bumper features a large air-intake arrangement, and the number plate housing is positioned in the center. The overall front-end design will be different from the Creta and comparatively sleek.
The side profile shows a rising window line and a noticeable kink near the C-pillar. The SUV also features conventional pull-type door handles, roof rails, and flared wheel arches. The exterior features a prominent wheel-arch treatment, but the heavy black body cladding is absent from the test mule.
The rear section features a slim LED light signature that complements the front design. A roof spoiler is also clearly visible, while the number plate/boot handle area on the tailgate is positioned in the center. The test car was spotted with dual-tone petal-style alloy wheels.
Twin-Screen Setup in the Cabin
The interior of this New Hyundai Midsize SUV has also been previously captured during testing. The cabin features a twin-screen setup on the dashboard, which matches the design philosophy of the latest Hyundai models.
These screens in top variants could be similar to the 12.3-inch units available in higher trims of the Venue, although final specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
Hyundai’s familiar four-dot Morse-code H motif is also seen on the steering wheel. The cabin is expected to feature a dual-tone black-and-white theme.
Hyundai is known for offering a long list of features in its SUVs, so the upcoming model is also expected to feature connected technology, large displays, premium audio, automatic climate control, and multiple convenience features. The exact feature list will be revealed variant-wise at launch.

CNG Option with 1.5-Liter Petrol Engine
New Hyundai Midsize SUV may adopt a slightly different strategy from the Creta in terms of powertrain. Reports suggest it could use the Creta’s 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine.
This engine produces around 115 hp and is likely to be offered with 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options.
But the most interesting development could be a CNG option. Hyundai may be preparing to introduce this SUV with a factory-fitted CNG powertrain, with the CNG tank positioned under the body.
If this setup makes it to the production version, it could become an important product for Hyundai, as the company could offer a CNG powertrain in an SUV longer than 4 metres for the first time.
Positioned below the Creta
The Creta is a major volume model in Hyundai’s current SUV lineup. By positioning the upcoming SUV below it, the company can target a wider price gap.
Its expected pricing could be around Rs. 9 lakh to Rs. 14 lakh (ex-showroom). Note that this pricing has not yet been officially confirmed.
With this positioning, Hyundai will focus on buyers who want a comparatively lower entry price for an SUV like the Creta, but also prefer a slightly larger product than the sub-4-meter SUV segment.
When will it launch?
The upcoming New Hyundai Midsize SUV is expected to be launched around the 2026 festive season. The company has not yet revealed the official launch date, final name, variant lineup, or complete specifications.
If Hyundai maintains competitive pricing with the expected petrol and CNG combination, this SUV could become an interesting new option in the Indian market. Its placement below the Creta, 4-meter-plus dimensions, CNG option, and feature-loaded cabin could be its biggest attractions.
The biggest question now is about its final design, official name, pricing, and exact CNG specifications. Clarity on these details is expected with Hyundai’s official announcement.
