Toyota has officially introduced the updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid in Japan. The biggest update to the LC300 lineup is the new self-charging hybrid powertrain.
Which pairs a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with an electric motor. This setup gives the SUV a combined output of 457 PS and 790 Nm.

The non-hybrid 3.5-liter twin-turbo petrol V6 has now been discontinued in the Japan-spec LC300. The 3.3-liter twin-turbo diesel engine will continue to be part of the hybrid range. Sales of the updated model will begin in Japan from 1 October 2026.

Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid: 457 PS Powertrain
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine paired with an electric motor-generator. The electric motor is integrated with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the nickel-metal hydride battery for the hybrid system is placed below the cargo area.
Combined output is 457 PS and 790 Nm, making it the most powerful Land Cruiser powertrain offered so far. Toyota’s official global specifications also confirm outputs of 457 hp and 790 Nm.
Despite the hybrid system, Toyota has maintained the LC300’s off-road capability. Water-wading depth is 700mm, and the V6 engine can propel the SUV in the event of a critical hybrid-system failure. Electric power steering has also been added to the Hybrid version.

Petrol V6 Dropped, Diesel Continues
The earlier non-electrified 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 in the Japan-spec updated LC300 has been dropped from the range. After this, the 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel V6 is the sole combustion-only option.
The diesel engine produces around 303 hp and 700 Nm, while Toyota Japan’s official LC300 information lists the diesel at 226kW/307PS and 700Nm.
The Hybrid version is around 170kg heavier in comparison to the earlier non-electrified V6 model. Along with this the fuel tank capacity has also been reduced from 80 liters to 68 litres.

Updated LC300 Gets More Features
Toyota has not only updated the powertrain, but also revised the equipment list. Japan-spec diesel versions come with a five-seat layout, while hybrid versions have a seven-seat configuration.
Wireless smartphone charging, road-to-vehicle communication, and a Cold Weather Package have been added to the lineup. Features such as dual 12.3-inch displays, a color head-up display, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, a cool box, rear-seat entertainment, and front/rear dashcams are available in the ZX and GR Sport trims. Toyota Japan also confirms JBL, rear-seat entertainment, wireless charging, and updated equipment.
Third-row seats in Hybrid versions can electrically fold/recline, while a 1,500W AC power outlet with an emergency power supply system is also available.
ZX Hybrid Gets Revised Exterior
Exterior changes focus primarily on the ZX Hybrid variant. It features a hybrid-specific front bumper extension, revised fog-lamp garnish, and side air intakes that extend toward the skid plate.
The ZX diesel largely continues its existing exterior treatment and is available with 20-inch Super Chrome Metallic alloy wheels. The GX gets silver 18-inch wheels, while the GR Sport continues with a Toyota-lettered grille, body cladding, skid plates, and matte-black 18-inch wheels.
New Modellista Package Also Introduced
Toyota has also introduced a new Modellista package for the updated LC300. This package includes revised front and rear bumper extensions, flared fenders, side steps, tailgate garnish, a roof spoiler, and dedicated 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.
This gives the SUV a more customized exterior appearance compared to the standard LC300, while the core mechanical package remains unchanged.

Pricing for the updated LC300 in Japan starts with the diesel GX. Hybrid versions are available in the ZX and GR Sport trims.

India Launch: What We Know
Toyota has not announced an India launch for this Japan-spec updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid. The hybrid powertrain has already been introduced in selected international markets, while Japan is now getting its own updated LC300 range.
For India, therefore, the 457 PS LC300 Hybrid should not be treated as confirmed yet. Toyota’s India-specific plans and pricing will need separate confirmation.

The biggest change in the updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is more the powertrain strategy than the styling. Toyota has introduced a high-output hybrid by directly replacing the petrol V6, taking output to 457 PS while core off-road credentials like 700mm water-wading capability continue.
