[Sep 01, 2026 21:52] IST– Hero MotoCorp recorded total sales of 5.68 lakh units in August 2026, registering a 2.6% year-on-year growth.
The company’s domestic sales increased 4.5% to 5.42 lakh units, while exports declined 24.5% to 26,093 units during the month.
Segment-wise, motorcycle sales fell 1.5% to 4.93 lakh units. In contrast, the scooter business delivered strong growth, with sales jumping 42.8% to 74,547 units.

August 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: Honda Cars India Sales Grow 11%
[Sep 01, 2026 19:42] IST– Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) recorded total sales of 7,508 units in August 2026, marking a 10.88% year-on-year increase from the 6,774 units sold during the same month last year.
The company’s domestic business saw a significant improvement, with 5,385 units sold in India compared with 3,850 units in August 2025. This translates to around 40% YoY growth.
Honda’s exports, however, declined during the month. The company shipped 2,123 units overseas, compared with 2,924 units in the year-ago period.
Honda Cars India attributed the strong domestic performance to festive-season demand, particularly the momentum generated around Onam. The company also highlighted the response to models including the New City and ZR-V.
Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India, said the company remains confident about sustaining the positive momentum and building on the customer response across its product portfolio.

August 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: Renault India Records 2,842 Units In August
[Sep 01, 2026 19:30] IST– Renault India recorded domestic wholesales of 2,842 units in August 2026, as the French automaker continues to strengthen its presence in the Indian market.
For the January–August 2026 period, Renault’s cumulative domestic wholesales reached 31,979 units, representing a growth of more than 47% compared with the corresponding period last year.
The company is also working on expanding its product portfolio across multiple powertrain technologies. Under its futuREady strategy, Renault India plans to introduce seven models covering petrol, CNG, hybrid and electric powertrains.
The broader powertrain strategy comes as customer preferences in India continue to diversify beyond conventional petrol and diesel vehicles.

August 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: Honda 2-Wheeler Sales Rise 8%
[Sep 01, 2026 18:58] IST– Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) recorded total sales of 5.79 lakh two-wheelers in August 2026. This represents 8% YoY growth compared to 5.34 lakh units in August 2025.
Honda’s performance in India was also positive. The company’s domestic sales reached 5.17 lakh units, an 8% increase compared to 4.81 lakh units last year.
The export business recorded even better growth. HMSI exported approximately 61,000 units in August, compared to 53,000 units a year earlier. This translates to 15% YoY growth in exports.
Honda’s overall sales remained strong in the first five months of FY2027 as well. During April-August 2026, HMSI sold a total of 27.33 lakh units, compared with 24.25 lakh units in the same period last year. This translates to approximately 12.7% growth in cumulative sales.

August 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: Suzuki Motorcycle India Posts 6% Growth
[Sep 01, 2026 18:50] IST– Suzuki Motorcycle India closed August 2026 on a positive note, with its overall two-wheeler volumes reaching 1,20,611 units. This was higher than the 1,13,936 units registered during August 2025, translating into a 6% YoY increase.
The Indian market was the main growth driver for the company. Domestic dispatches rose to 1,03,118 units, up from 91,629 units a year ago, marking an 8% improvement.
Exports, meanwhile, witnessed a decline during the month. Suzuki shipped 17,493 two-wheelers overseas, compared with 22,307 units in August 2025.
Overall, the stronger domestic performance helped Suzuki Motorcycle India maintain growth in its August sales despite the drop in exports.
August 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: Toyota Reports 32,842 Units In August
[Sep 01, 2026 18:25] IST– Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recorded total sales of 32,842 units in August 2026. The automaker sold 28,410 units in India, while another 4,432 units were shipped to overseas markets.
With the festive season approaching, Toyota expects demand to remain supportive in the coming months. The company said it is positive about the opportunities that the festive period could bring for the auto industry.

[Sep 01, 2026 17:21] IST– Nissan Motor India reported total wholesales of 9,350 units in August 2026, down 2% year-on-year from 9,541 units in August 2025.
The August wholesales included 3,426 units in the domestic market and 5,924 units through exports. Domestic wholesales witnessed a strong 147.5% YoY growth, compared with 1,384 units sold in the domestic market in August last year.

[Sep 01, 2026 14:30] IST– Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is seeing strong on-ground demand across both its ICE and EV portfolios. The company remains positive about its growth outlook ahead of the festive season, especially amid the encouraging response to the new BE6 Sporteq.
Velusamy R, President of M&M Automotive Business and Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., told NDTV Profit that demand was strong during Onam, especially in South India.
The company is also increasing production capacity to meet the growing demand. M&M aims to achieve a production capacity of 60,000 ICE units by the end of September. The company also maintains a strong production plan for the festive season.

[Sep 01, 2026 14:20] IST– TVS Motor Company recorded strong growth in the two-wheeler, electric vehicle, and three-wheeler segments in August 2026. The company’s total two-wheeler sales increased by 21% to 591,437 units, compared to 490,788 units in August 2025.
Two-Wheeler Sales
TVS Motor’s domestic two-wheeler sales increased by 18% to 433,796 units in August 2026. In the same month last year, the company sold 368,862 two-wheelers in the domestic market.
Electric Vehicle Sales
TVS Motor’s electric two-wheeler business recorded the fastest growth. EV sales increased by 137% to 59,453 units in August 2026, compared to 25,138 electric two-wheelers sold in August 2025.
International Business
The company’s total international business sales increased by 29% to 174,452 units, up from 135,367 units last year.
Two-wheeler sales in the international market also increased by 29% to 157,641 units, compared to 121,926 units in August 2025.
Three-Wheeler Sales
TVS Motor’s three-wheeler business also performed well in August. Three-wheeler sales increased by 34% to 25,103 units, compared to 18,748 units sold in the same month last year.

[Sep 01, 2026 13:40] IST– Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. sold 67,753 passenger vehicles in August 2026, combining domestic and international markets. In August 2025, the company’s sales were 43,315 units. This represents a 56% YoY growth in Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle business.
The company’s sales also exceeded the market estimate of 65,500 units, indicating strong demand for August performance.

August 2026 Auto Sales LIVE: VST Tillers Tractor Sales Decline
[Sep 01, 2026 13:35] IST– VST Tillers Tractors Limited reported a decline in sales in August 2026. The company’s total sales declined by 17.3% YoY to 3,720 units, compared to 4,499 units sold in August 2025.
The main reason for the decline was the power tiller segment. Power tiller sales declined by 17.4% YoY to 3,387 units in August 2026, down from 4,100 units last year. Tractor sales also declined by 16.5% YoY to 333 units, compared to 399 tractors sold in August 2025.
However, the company remains in growth in year-to-date performance. Total sales of VST Tillers Tractors for the FY27 period so far stood at 24,634 units, up 3% from 23,925 units in the same period last year.
YTD power tiller sales increased 3.7% to 22,638 units, while tractor sales declined 4.9% to 1,996 units.

[Sep 01, 2026 13:25] IST– B. Govindarajan, MD of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield, said that August was another growth month for the company, strengthening sales momentum ahead of the upcoming festive season in India.
He explained that Royal Enfield further strengthened its product portfolio in August. The company introduced the Classic 350 Gorkha Edition, which pays tribute to Royal Enfield’s historic association with the Armed Forces. Additionally, the Continental GT 650 was refreshed with new feature updates.
The company also recorded progress on the electric mobility front. Royal Enfield’s Flying Flea C6 crossed the 50,000 km mark during customer-driven rides in Bengaluru alone.

Maruti Suzuki’s Utility Vehicle (UV) portfolio includes models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6. Their combined sales in August 2026 stood at 79,045 units, up 46.3% from 54,043 units in the previous year.
Eeco Sales
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki Eeco sales also increased to 11,961 units in August. In the same month last year, the Eeco sold 10,785 units, registering approximately 10.9% YoY growth.

[Sep 01, 2026 13:00] IST– Maruti Suzuki’s Mini segment, which includes the Alto and S-Presso, recorded strong growth in August 2026. Sales in this segment increased to 8,799 units, compared to 6,853 units sold in August 2025. This represents a year-on-year growth of approximately 28.4%.
Cumulative sales of the Mini segment nearly doubled to 65,190 units in the April-August period of FY2026-27, from 33,197 units in the same period last fiscal year. This represents approximately 96.4% YoY growth.
Compact & Mid-Size Segment Sales
Maruti Suzuki’s Compact and Mid-Size segment includes models like the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR. Sales of this portfolio in August stood at 77,166 units, up from 59,597 units recorded in August 2025. This resulted in approximately 29.5% YoY growth for the segment.
Cumulative sales of the Compact and Mid-Size segment increased to 394,017 units in the first five months of FY2027, compared to 304,514 units in the same period last fiscal. This means the segment registered approximately 29.4% YoY growth.

[Sep 01, 2026 12:50] IST– Maruti Suzuki India Limited recorded total sales of 219,220 units in August 2026, a 21% YoY growth compared to the same month last year. However, the company’s total sales fell short of the estimate of 240,000 units.
The company’s total sales included 180,078 units domestic sales, 5298 units sales to other OEMs, and 33,844 units exports. Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 10 lakh unit cumulative total sales mark in the first five months of FY2026-27.
The company performed strongly in the domestic market. Total domestic sales increased by 29% to approximately 185,000 units, while domestic passenger vehicle sales recorded 35% YoY growth.

In August 2026, Hyundai recorded domestic sales of 54,396 units, a 23.6% increase year-on-year. This is the company’s highest domestic sales for any August month ever.

[Sep 01, 2026 10:40] IST– Mahindra & Mahindra reported 59,257 SUV sales in August 2026, registering 50% YoY growth. The company’s overall auto sales stood at 1,07,648 units, up 42% YoY including exports. Exports jumped 71% to 6,054 units, while three-wheeler sales increased 42% to 14,922 units.

[Sep 01, 2026 10:20] IST– JSW MG Motor India reported 7,508 units in August 2026, marking a 14% YoY increase over 6,578 units sold in August 2025.
