2027 Triumph Tiger 1200: Engine to Get Performance Upgrades

The updated 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 retains the same 1,160cc, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine architecture, but features changes to internal components and the fuel delivery system. The new engine produces 158hp of maximum power at 9,250rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. Power output has increased by 8hp compared to its predecessor, with peak torque now delivered at a lower engine speed.
Triumph has redesigned the cylinder head, pistons, and exhaust system. The intake and exhaust valves have also been made lighter, while the fuel injection system has received updates to improve precision. The company has also refined the six-speed gearbox and shaft-drive system, revising the first three gear ratios.
These changes to the adventure-touring motorcycle are aimed at improving performance during highway cruising and in varied riding conditions. The extent of the difference in actual riding experience and efficiency will only be clear after a detailed road test.
2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Updated Design & Wheel Setup
The overall design of the 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 remains the same as the existing motorcycle, but some body panels and exterior details have been updated. The fuel tank, radiator cowls, front beak, and windscreen receive changes. This gives the bike a refreshed appearance without compromising its familiar adventure-touring character.

An interesting update is the wheel configuration. All variants of the Tiger 1200 now feature a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination. GT variants get cast aluminum wheels, while Rally variants come with spoked wheels.
Wet weight ranges from 250 kg to 268 kg depending on the variant. The GT Pro has a wet weight of 250 kg, the Rally Pro 255 kg, the GT Explorer 260 kg, and the Rally Explorer 268 kg. Explorer variants come with a larger fuel tank and additional equipment, which results in a higher weight.

Self-Lowering Suspension Provides Extra Convenience
The suspension setup features a Showa 49mm upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock. Both ends offer 200mm of suspension travel. The rear suspension features an automatic self-leveling preload function, while inputs from sensors and a six-axis IMU assist in damping adjustment.
A notable feature of the new 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 is the automatic ride-height function. The system can lower the seat height by up to 30mm when the motorcycle comes to a stop, making it easier for the rider to stand on the bike. According to Triumph, the standstill seat height can be up to 790mm with the combination of the optional low seat and automatic function.
Braking is handled by twin 320mm discs and Brembo Stylema calipers at the front, while the rear features a 282mm disc.
Advanced Rider Assistance with Front and Rear Radar

A major technology update on the 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 is the front and rear radar system. These systems support rider-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, group ride assist, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist, and blind-spot assist.
Adaptive cruise control can make highway riding convenient during long-distance touring, while blind-spot assist and forward collision warning are designed to provide riders with additional information about surrounding traffic. The availability and operation of these features may vary depending on market-specific specifications.
The motorcycle also features a new 7-inch TFT touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard, making it easy to access navigation and compatible smartphone functions.
What’s the difference between the GT Pro & Explorer variants?
The Pro variants of the Triumph Tiger 1200 feature a 20-liter fuel tank, while the GT Explorer and Rally Explorer feature a 30-liter tank. The Explorer variants also feature a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), lower engine bars, and changes to the handlebar position. These handlebars are 10mm higher and 10mm wider.

Heated rider and pillion seats, along with three-stage heated grips, are standard across the range. These features are useful for long-distance touring and improve riding comfort in cold weather.
In the global range, the GT Pro comes with a road-focused setup, while the GT Explorer focuses on a larger fuel tank and additional touring equipment. The Rally Pro and Rally Explorer are adventure-oriented variants that feature spoked wheels. Triumph has confirmed the GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants for India.

Indian pricing for the updated model has not been announced yet. The current Triumph India website lists prices for the outgoing MY24 Tiger 1200 range from Rs. 19.39 lakh to Rs. 22.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Auto India Daily Verdict
The update to the 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 is not just a cosmetic refresh. A more powerful engine, radar-based rider assistance and self-lowering suspension make it more technology-focused in the premium adventure-touring segment.
